The Princess and the Hound
He is a prince and heir to a kingdom threatened on all sides, possessor of the forbidden animal magic.
She is a princess from a rival kingdom, the daughter her father never wanted, isolated from all except her hound.
In this lush and beautifully written fairy-tale romance, a prince, a princess, and two kingdoms are joined in the aftermath of a war. Proud, stubborn, and bound to marry for duty, George and Beatrice will steal your heart—but will they fall in love? (Summary from Goodreads)

My Review: This was a cute story. Very original take on Beauty and the Beast. I liked George, Beatrice, and Merit. For me it was kind of slow. It took me a while to finish. But it was still a great story. I'll be reading the next one.

Poison Study (Study, #1)Choose: A quick death and hell or slow poison and hell.
About to be executed for murder, Yelena is offered an extraordinary reprieve. She'll eat the best meals, have rooms in the palace and risk assassination by anyone trying to kill the Commander of Ixia.
And so Yelena chooses to become a food taster. But the chief of security, leaving nothing to chance, deliberately feeds her Butterfly's Dust and only by appearing for her daily antidote will she delay an agonizing death from the poison.
As Yelena tries to escape her new dilemma, disasters keep mounting. Rebels plot to seize Ixia and Yelena develops magical powers she can't control. Her life is threatened again and choices must be made. But this time the outcomes aren't so clear. (Summary from Goodreads)

My Review: I loved this book. I could not put it down. Yelena is a strong character. I liked how she grew through the story. I think Valek is my new literary crush! I don't think I would recommend this to all though, only because of a couple dark subjects were discussed. (I think I am a little desensitized so I am not sure how dark they really were. :) But regardless I thoroughly enjoyed this book.) I am excited to start the second one!!

The Hourglass Door (Hourglass Door Trilogy, #1)His past. Her future. Can love bring them together in time?

Abby's senior year of high school is going according to plan: good friends, cute boyfriend, and college applications in the mail. But when Dante Alexander, foreign-exchange student from Italy, steps into her life, he turns it upside down. He's mysterious, and interesting, and unlike anyone she's ever met before. Abby can't deny the growing attraction she feels for him. Nor can she deny the unusual things that seem to happen when Dante is around. Soon Abby finds herself drawn into a mystery whose roots reach into sixteenth-century Florence, and she uncovers a dangerous truth that threatens not only her future but the lives of those she loves. (Summary from Goodreads)

My Review: I enjoyed this book. Abby was likable. I looked forward to the growing relationship with her and Dante. It had a bit of action too. I got confused at times, I won't say why because it will give too much away, but it wasn't a bad thing.  I am excited the second one is out so I can get started on it.

The Reckoning (Darkest Powers, #3)Only two weeks ago, life was all too predictable. But that was before I saw my first ghost. Now, along with my supernatural friends Tori, Derek, and Simon, I’m on the run from the Edison Group, which genetically altered us as part of their sinister experiment. We’re hiding in a safe house that might not be as safe as it seems. We’ll be gone soon anyway, back to rescue those we’d left behind and to take out the Edison Group . . . or so we hope. (Summary from Goodreads)

My Review: The final in the trilogy. Like the others I really liked it. A lot of action whilst the group tries to figure out who is on their side. Also had a bit of romance, which I enjoy. :) It was a pretty quick read. I wanted to see how it ended and couldn't put it down. I am pretty happy with the ending. I still want a little more and I heard the author may be writing more about Chloe and the gang in the future. Yay!! A little dark but not too bad. A great series!

My Review: I really enjoyed Jacky. I love how she talks. It made me laugh sometimes. It can be a little dark. There are a couple creeps aboard the ship Jacky has to watch out for. It was an excellent book and I can't wait to start the second one!

The Awakening (Darkest Powers, #2)If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl—someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I'm as far away from normal as it gets. A living science experiment—not only can I see ghosts, but I was genetically altered by a sinister organization called the Edison Group. What does that mean? For starters, I'm a teenage necromancer whose powers are out of control; I raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever.
Now I'm running for my life with three of my supernatural friends—a charming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgruntled witch—and we have to find someone who can help us before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying. (Summary from Goodreads)

My Review: I liked this book just as much as the first. And I liked Derek even more! I can't think of what to say without giving away stuff. I'll just say it was an excellent read and I am excited I have the next one on my shelf ready to read!!

The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1)After years of frequent moves following her mother’s death, Chloe Saunders’s life is finally settling down. She is attending art school, pursuing her dreams of becoming a director, making friends, meeting boys. Her biggest concern is that she’s not developing as fast as her friends are. But when puberty does hit, it brings more than hormone surges. Chloe starts seeing ghosts–everywhere, demanding her attention. After she suffers a breakdown, her devoted aunt Lauren gets her into a highly recommended group home.

At first, Lyle House seems a pretty okay place, except for Chloe’s small problem of fearing she might be facing a lifetime of mental illness. But as she gradually gets to know the other kids at the home–charming Simon and his ominous, unsmiling brother Derek, obnoxious Tori, and Rae, who has a “thing” for fire–Chloe begins to realize that there is something that binds them all together, and it isn’t your usual “problem kid” behaviour. And together they discover that Lyle House is not your usual group home either… (Summary from Goodreads)

My Review: This book was kind of weird at first. But I liked it. It is a little on the dark side what with the ghosts and all. I like Chloe. I like Derek more than Simon even though he isn't supposed to be "attractive". I hope Chloe will like Derek more too! I am excited to start the 2nd book!!

When it comes time to protect those she loves, will she depend on David, her human boyfriend, for help? Or will she turn to Tamani, the electrifying faerie with whom her connection is undeniable? (Summary from Goodreads)

My Review: I liked where this one went from the first. Sort of. :) I wanted her to spend a little more time with Tamani. A little bit slow at times but a good read. I wish the third book was coming out soon. We were left with a bit of a cliffhanger. I want to know what happens!!
