IllyriaMadeleine and Rogan are first cousins, best friends, twinned souls, each other's first love. Even within their large, disorderly family - all descendants of a famous actress - their intensity and passion for theater sets them apart. It makes them a little dangerous. When they are cast in their school's production of Twelfth Night, they are forced to face their separate talents and futures, and their future together.
This stunning short novel, winner of the World Fantasy Award, is the perfect introduction to Elizabeth Hand's singular voice. Her many novels offer a window into what it means to create art, to experience it, to feel passionately about the world. Illyria throws her talent into high relief - it is magic on paper. My Thoughts: It was about "kissing cousins" and that part of it didn't really bother me. I could have done without the f-bombs. It did have a pretty good story and a good ending. Not sure that I would read it again and again though.

Incarceron (Incarceron, #1)Incarceron -- a futuristic prison, sealed from view, where the descendants of the original prisoners live in a dark world torn by rivalry and savagery. It is a terrifying mix of high technology -- a living building which pervades the novel as an ever-watchful, ever-vengeful character, and a typical medieval torture chamber -- chains, great halls, dungeons. A young prisoner, Finn, has haunting visions of an earlier life, and cannot believe he was born here and has always been here. In the outer world, Claudia, daughter of the Warden of Incarceron, is trapped in her own form of prison -- a futuristic world constructed beautifully to look like a past era, an imminent marriage she dreads. She knows nothing of Incarceron, except that it exists. But there comes a moment when Finn, inside Incarceron, and Claudia, outside, simultaneously find a device -- a crystal key, through which they can talk to each other. And so the plan for Finn's escape is born ...  (Summary from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: I really liked this one. There was a twist that I didn't see coming at all. I love it when that happens. There was a bit of a cliffhanger so I can't wait to see what happens in the next one.

With all of her attention focused on survival and escape, Emma hardly expects to find love. But the war will teach her that life is unpredictable, people aren't always what they seem, and magic is lurking everywhere. (Summary from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: I have never really read The Frog Prince but some of the things in this book seemed familiar. Maybe I need to read it now. At first I didn't like Jack but he grew on me pretty quick. I loved their story. Definitely worth a read!!

My Thoughts: Another great re-telling. I loved this one. It was a good twist on the Little Red Riding Hood. I loved that the author wrote "What big teeth you have".

There is not much online with a description for this novella. This is off of Kelley Armstrong's websiteDerek and Simon's adventures while separated from Chloe at the beginning of The Awakening. Narrated by Derek.

My Thoughts: I love that this is in Derek's point of view. I didn't find it until after I read all three so I knew Derek more but I loved finding out what he thought. I am eating up everything Kelley is doing. I can't wait until her next book The Gathering!!

My Thoughts: This was a good sequel to The Princess and the Hound. I liked it more than the first one. It didn't really draw me in though. It took a while to finish. It had a lot going for it, just not my cup of tea I guess.
